Pornography Harms Relations with Couple?

A32News - There is a stereotype that describes that connoisseurs of pornography is someone who every night surfing the internet for porn enjoy the pictures or scenes and is considered the main culprit is a hobby.

The question is, whether the pornography hobby a bad influence on people who are already in pairs? Two studies were recently published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior attempt to answer this question, beyond the simple assumption that pornography definitely detrimental to a relationship.

The first study conducted by Taylor Kohut and colleagues from the University of Western Ontario.

They believe that previous studies on the same topic, too leads from "top to bottom".

Alias, too, based on the theories of human behavior is pornography dangerous.

Such methods often fail to identify the positive effects of the use of pornography. Instead, Kohut choose the approach of "bottom up".

The majority of survey respondents said that they did not feel any negative effects of pornography.

A total of 430 respondents answered as much as 621 times over Kohut open questions about pornography.

There are only 34 answers to admit the lack of a positive effect on the behavior of pornography.

Many respondents claimed that pornography is a good source of information about sex.

They also think that the use of pornography helps them to talk about sex more openly with their partners.

In another study conducted by Samuel Perry of the University of Oklahoma showed that most of the research on the use of pornography is only acting as a snapshot.

The questions posed are just spinning on how many respondents spend their time accessing porn sites and how good their relationship with their spouse.

This is not ideal, Perry said, because the majority of the research consider that the behavior of pornography cause problems in the marriage.

However, there may be previous dissatisfaction in the marriage which then directs people to the behavior of pornography.

Only when a researcher to track the use of pornography and the quality of relationships in the long term, we are only able to know with certainty, whether the pornography that cause the breakdown of relationships or pornography as an escape from the relationship that has been cracked before.

Images Perry analyzed data from American Life Study (or PALS), a nationally representative survey of adults in the US were made in 2006 and 2012.

Respondents answered a lot of questions, among which are:

- How do you see your marriage relationship?

- How often do you watch pornography?

The results showed, in 2006, men and women who often view porn sites, tend to feel less happy in their relationships.

It is not known whether the pornography that reduces the levels of happiness in a related or otherwise.

Later, Perry compared with the data in 2012.

He noticed that people who are more often associated with porn sites in 2006 was less than happy with their relationship in 2012.

It seems, from the results of this evaluation, we can conclude that pornography is not a side effect of a bad relationship, but perhaps as a precursor factor of the decline in the quality of relationships.

Still, it is not known whether pornography is causing an unhappy relationship or not.

It may be that those who have problems with personal relationships because of unknown reasons, tend to be more in touch with things porno.

Perry also found that women were more likely to access pornographic sites at least two to three times per month in 2006, claimed to be happier with their relationship six years later.

Figures largest increase occurred in women who are most often accessing porn sites or media.
